Want your watermelon to taste sweeter?
Sprinkle some salt on it.

Ok, I need to know is this true? Who has tried this or is willing to try? Very curious!
I don't like watermelon, or else I would try it.

I just so happened to be eating watermelon when I logged in. I have never salted my melon, but today I took one for the team and tried it. Bleck! LOL

Jeanne, you are my hero! Good job stepping out of the comfort zone.
So, I'm going to translate "Bleck" = Boys & Girls don't try this at home!

We ate salt on watermelon, cantaloupe and such growing up. Never thought about why, it just didn't taste right without it. I don't have to take meds or anything, but I do watch salt consumption. I don't think there's any reason anyone should think it makes it sweeter. For sure, it just adds more sodium to your intake.

I dont know how it could make it sweeter.

Lyn Replied:
I know in baking they say salt brings out the sweet in things, I guess it is the same concept?
