This general concept works for me. I have a slow body that takes a while to let me know it's had enough fuel, so it's hard to quit eating when I still feel genuinely hungry. This past month, because of dental surgery and being stitched up, I had to eat so slowly that I got used to stopping after a small serving, and lo and behold, I survived! I was not trying to lose weight, but doing this dropped my weight to four pounds below goal. Note to self for the next spike up.

I also don't realize I'm full until I'm miserable full. I need to get better at this one.
